HiMockup / Use cases

What is a mockup? Meaning and examples

A mockup is a realistic picture of a design in use: a logo on a shop sign, an app on a phone in someone's hand, a label on a coffee bag. It shows how something will look before it is printed, built or launched.

Designers use mockups to present work to clients, shops use them as product photos, and app makers use them for store listings and launch posts. A good mockup keeps the design exactly as it is and only adds perspective, light and shadow.

How it works

  1. Prepare your design as a PNG, JPG or SVG. For packaging, use the label at its print size.
  2. Pick a scene that matches where the design will live: a phone, a poster, a can, a billboard.
  3. Place the design. In HiMockup it snaps into the surface with the right perspective on its own.
  4. Export a still image, or a short video loop for social media.

Questions

What is the difference between a mockup, a wireframe and a prototype?

A wireframe is a rough layout, a prototype is clickable, and a mockup is a realistic picture of the finished design on a product or in a place.

Can I use mockups commercially?

It depends on the licence. Many free mockup files are for personal use only. In HiMockup, Pro and Lifetime include a commercial licence for client work, shops and ads.

Can I try HiMockup for free?

Yes. Every scene is free to try without an account. Free exports are 1200 px with a watermark across the image. Pro (€12 a month or €96 a year) or Lifetime (€149 once) unlocks full resolution without watermark.

Can I use the mockups commercially?

Yes, with Pro or Lifetime: client work, your portfolio, shops, social media and ads.
